Fury Head Coach Goes Back To School

Fury Head Coach Joe Black recently had the oppotunity to be a guest coachat the NFL's Junior Player Development camp in Chester. The JPD camps are organised by the NFL’s Simon Newnham in conjunction with local clubs, and are designed to attract new players to the sport. The week long event featured a coaching staff led by British professional players from NFL Europa working along side local coaches from the Chester Romans. The coaches worked with the participant aged between 14 to 19 to teach them the basic skills of each position which will hopfully encourage them to take up the sport.

Coach Black commented “This was a wonderful opportunity for the local coaches, myself included, to learn from coaches with professional experiance. A personal highlight was getting the chance to coach positions that I normally would not".

Simon Newnham added "The JPD camps are a great way to attract new kids to the sport and by loaning them the equipment it helps over come the cost hurdle involved in trying out the sport for the first time. Our national playes also get a kick out of working with these kids and the coaches. It's their way of putting something back into the game".
